Despite crashing out of qualifying for the F1 Imola Grand Prix, Franco Colapinto has received a one-place grid penalty. This penalty was imposed due to his breach of protocol in the pitlane following Yuki Tsunoda’s high-speed crash. Colapinto, who was making his debut for Alpine in place of Jack Doohan, incurred the penalty for entering the fast lane prematurely before the restart time was confirmed. During the qualifying session, Colapinto had a crash of his own and later apologized to his team for the error. Despite the setback, Colapinto acknowledged the progress made by the team and expressed confidence in bouncing back stronger for the race. He went to the medical centre for checks, was cleared, and highlighted the learning process and improvements he is making with each lap in the car.
